Losing a loved one is one of the most challenging experiences we can face, and it can be difficult to know how to cope with the overwhelming emotions that come with grief. Fortunately, there are many resources available to support individuals and families as they navigate this difficult journey. In this article, we will discuss grief support services, including who is supported, how services are provided, and the best way to make the first step in seeking help.
Bereavement counseling is a type of therapy that aims to help people who are dealing with grief and loss. Sometimes people who are grieving need to talk about their loss but are unable to find a safe space to do so. It is our goal to establish a relationship with all of our patients and their loved ones that allows those in need to feel comfortable to receive counseling or any necessary referrals.
It is our goal here at LifeChoice Hospice to ensure our patients are not only receiving exemplary medical attention and care, but are also receiving the socialization and support that so important in these difficult times.
In our unique role we are able to coordinate services with direct service providers, pharmacies, hospitals, veteran affairs, and nursing homes to ensure our patients are connected with the resources that they need.
Emotional support involves providing comfort and empathy to patients during times of distress. This can include listening to their concerns, providing a safe space for them to express their emotions, and offering encouragement and validation. Emotional support can also involve providing resources such as counseling or therapy.
Because feelings deserve understanding, comfort, and compassionate care, too.
